Paul Gayler - The Lanesborough Hotel:

'At last Michelle has provided the answer for dealing with the ever growing demands of food allergics. Written for the professional caterer, it is simple and concise and gives peace of mind. Just what we needed.'

Anthony Worrall Thompson:

With the number of people suffering from food allergies these days it is essential that restaurants get their act together and learn to feed them safely and enjoyably. Michelle has put together a much needed book - essential for every kitchen'.

Hazel Gowland of Allergy Action:

'At last, some really practical guidance to help caterers meet the needs of the growing numbers of people with food allergies and intolerances - a valuable tool for anybody serving food to others'

Sara Jayne-Stanes, Director of the Culinary Academy:

'With the huge growth in food allergy and intolerance - and the sad lack of education on the subject in catering colleges - this will be a really useful book for all of our members. Well laid out, clear and simple to follow, but with a wealth of information. I particularly like the 'Do' and 'Don't' section which can be stuck up on a wall for easy reference - and the wonderful cartoons!'

Extracts from reviews:

Caterer & Hotelkeeper: (extracts from a lengthy article about food allergy and intolerance)
....The difficulties for caterers (in dealing with food allergies and intolerances) is exacerbated by the lack of training undertaken by chefs as basic courses at catering colleges generally don't cover the subject. However Professor David Foskett says that his students at Thames Valley Univeristy will be using The Allergy Catering Manual as a reference book from the next academic year........Berriedale-Johnson hopes that the manual will become an esseantial feature of every kitchen where food is being served to the public......

TheUniversity Caterer:
The Allergy Catering Manual is the caterer's bible when providing food for allergic customers. Written by Michelle Berridale-Johnson, it aims to hold the apron strings of any kitchen, provided step by step information for catering for food intolerant customers......... University caterers have been targeted this autumn and out of 300 universities sent details, 60-70 of them ordered the manual by return......

The Anaphylaxis Campaign newsletter:
Michelle Berriedale-Johnson, author and journlaist, has written a 70 page manual aimed at helping the catering industry to get to grips with food allergies and intolerances.... Her book provides vital basic inforamtion for caterers of all sizes and degrees of expertise, in an easily accessible and practical format.....

The British Food Journal:
Written primarily for caterers this is an excellent and simple to understand book. It should be on the booklist of anyone involved in catering, new product development or food retailing........ the book concludes with a useful list of suppliers and useful contacts. This book certainly deserves to be one of the survival guides for the 21st century.

The Environmental Health Journal:
Readers would be well advised to purchase a copy of Michelle Berridale-Johnson's highly informative Allergy Catering Manual which touches on the overlooked subject of food allergies............. This easy-to-read manual offers a handy reference guide, not only to caterers who want to get ahead of the game but also to EHPs who care to learn more about food allergies in order to inform themselves for their enforcement work. ...... In the light of well publicised food allergy trajedies this handy new publication is an invaluable tool.
